Hello,
I'm Dan McClellan

I'm a marriage and family therapist licensed in Arkansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. I have worked with couples, families, and individuals for 20 years. I find great joy in helping people discover and become who they hope to be.

I am accepting clients in AR, MO, and OK. I have limited in-person availability in Bentonville and more flexibility with telehealth (video or phone).

I find great joy and meaning in helping people grow, heal, and change.

Like most people, I find regular tension between the desire to be comfortable (or at least to stay in the discomfort I know) and the desire to be better. I've been stuck at times because the fear of change is worse than the pain of being stuck.

I've also learned how to acknowledge those fears and still move forward. I know that having the right people support you can make the process manageable and lasting.

I am here to help you discover the life and marriage you hope for and work towards that end.

Why I became a  Counselor

Serving Others + Finding Meaning

I have always loved being around and serving people. I had initially planned to teach high school. I studied Spanish, History and Music at Brigham Young University. In the start of my senior year I watched the attacks to America that happened on 9-11. I wanted to serve more.

After exploring some military options, I started a journey to become a Chaplain. I began a Master's of Marriage and Family Therapy at Abilene Christian University and joined the Air Force Reserves as a chaplain candidate.

While I love the Air Force, I found a greater purpose in helping people through counseling. This was an interesting change for me as I had never planned to be a therapist until I had finished a masters in the field. Yet, I began to see the value of counseling as I watch change and meaning come into people's lives.

I worked with a faith-based counseling agency for 18 years and recently have opened my own practice to broaden my reach and serve more people. I have worked with hundreds of couples ranging from minor concerns to affairs. I have done extensive work with depression, anxiety, life choices, and many other common concerns.

I value feelings and experience and yet am unlikely to ask "How does that make you feel?". I focus on acknowledging thoughts and feelings and then finding practical tools to respond to them and engage in a rich and meaningful life.

I have been married for 25 years. We struggled with fertility for 10 years but now have 4 children; three boys and a girl (from 14 to 6). I enjoying running with my boys (they all beat me now). I mountain bike (rather poorly my x-rays would say). I enjoy disc golf (where I still can beat my boys). I find great joy with my family and serving within my faith community.
